This app is all encompassing! You’ll never need anything more. It’s so user friendly and has the most delicious recipes to try.
Highly recommended, helps you make stuff from what you have in the cabinets as well as find new recipes and organizes a grocery list of everything you will need for all the recipes. Helps you plan out your week in advance for what you would like to have each day. Really Lovin’ this app use it everyday !
Haven’t actually made any of the dishes yet. Just downloaded it today but so far I am loving how easy it is to find and save new recipes and make meal plans and it even gives you a shopping list for what you need
Largely misleading free trial and also full of bugs. Churned user
Deciding what to eat every week and providing variety in a nutritious way for my family has been a struggle. I have been ordering food online for a while, but getting a cart together is still an annoying chore. I love that I can find a recipe here, and it converts all of ingredients into a grocery cart for me to order at Walmart. And it’s free! Absolutely awesome so far. We have saved so much money on groceries using this app. Try it!
I originally paid for this app while it was BudgetBytes. It then changed to SideChef and now charges for a premium membership. I didn’t pay for an app once to be asked to pay again.
I really like how everyone can put their own spin on recipes and they always leave the items you need and the price .
Not liking the app. Had all my recipes in budget bytes. All appear to be lost.
Great app! I haven’t tried ordering ingredients from Walmart yet, but looks like a great option!
I’ve struggled for years trying to find recipes that I can easily fix, and are inexpensive, healthy, and delicious. I just downloaded this app and immediately spent several hours scrolling through thousands of recipes of all types. I’m beyond thrilled to get so much inspiration and easy recipes - I finally feel like I can expand my palette instead of fixing the same few meals!
Almost all the budget bytes recipes aren’t on the app. Not sure why. Likely will not be using this.
I simply love this app!
I can’t get the copy and paste recipe option to work. Everytime I try to paste a website it says it cannot be saved
Since the company won’t tell us if BudgetBytes has been bought out or rebranded or whatever, let me just point out that all the recipes that I loved from that app are nowhere in this one. The app and blog are identical except these new versions have worse recipes with worse pictures and more ads and premium features and money grabs. Just another stupid company more interested in money than providing a solid experience.
I was quite saddened to see the predecessor app to this one (the fantastic BudgetBytes) be discontinued in favor of SideChef and in a way, the transition to me represents just another illustration of the way the digital world is slowly changing and in my view leaving its golden age behind. I really appreciated how before this change one could purchase the budget bytes app one time using what I thought was a fair amount of real money, and then access an elegantly designed and seamless program to find and catalogue recipes. While this new app is free initially, it is clearly now designed more as a shopping and advertising app than a recipe app. I am saddened that this has become the new normal. While you can change the view of the ingredients list to remove ingredients shopping links, there does not seem to be a way to make this the default setting meaning you in effect have to click past advertising in every recipe. As a person who will not abide advertising in any form, this is intolerable to me. I received the notice that budget bytes will soon lose developer support and be unavailable after 7/6/2023. I downloaded and tried out sidechef, realized what had happened, shed a single tear for the days before freemium products, deleted the app, and dusted off my recipe spreadsheet. As the sinister creep of engagement and advertising continues to permeate every aspect of the digital experience, perhaps someday I will be even forced to start an actual recipe notebook on paper like this is the 1970s.
No annoying paywalls, just shows you the recipes, keeps track of all the ingredients for you and the recipes themselves look amazing! It’s magical
I love this app I have deleted all other meal planning apps. Has a lot of super yummy recipes. You can add the meals you pick to a specific day of the week. Then It generates a shopping list makes it super easy to delete things that you don’t need and you can order your ingredients from Walmart or use the list and go shopping at the store! It even tells you how long the recipe will take so if you are busy bee this will help you plan for the days you don’t have a lot of time to be in the kitchen!
Is this an exclusive Walmart app? FAQ gives “some” direction how to change your grocery store options but not seeing that when I’m using the app. Must have to upgrade the app, not sure. Also you can’t copy/paste or print recipe? Emailed support and got a generic response that included FAQ.
I love how this app is soo detailed in how to make all different kinds of cuisines
I appreciate the speed that they resolved my issue with.
When I had a problem and communicated it through the Sidechef website, my problem was addresses and resolved promptly.
I have been finding really good things to cook
My wife started SideChef and it was great , she now uses one of those home deliveries. I prefer SideChef but , I am handicapped so she decided it was easier for me.
Oh my goodness. This app is very versatile when it comes to preparing meals. If you want traditional or healthy meals, this app is for you. It also lets you create a shopping list and shop at various stores.
I’m one of those people that I was stuck and can’t figure out what to cook what I need or how to cook it. This is quite frustrating for my partner who won something the chef full-time but now I’m actually excited to cook and prep meals. Probably a relationship saver as well
I tried out this app when they had it for $100 visa gift card in December 2021. I waited the full 15 days as stated when it should arrive. Well to my surprise if did not and the customer service is just an automated message saying someone will respond in 2 business days. It’s been many business days and me emailing them several times. Do not fall for this company’s so called promotion try out their app. It is overall an ok app but Pinterest is also an app you can use to look up recipes and is won’t crash on you. Basically they wanted my information and for me to do a survey so they could use that information than ghost you. Horrible company. Stay away from them and do not fall for their promotions
This app has made planning meals so much easier. The search functionality makes it possible to look for recipes using an i gradient I already have. The Add to Cart button makes it easier to ensure I order the items I need for the meal plan I am able to put together in the app. Saves me time!
SideChef has come up with the menu and shopping list! Sending it to Walmart and picking it up makes it quick and simple!!
Food wars Is good anime
Does not connect with Amazon as advertised and no response from support.
I’m just learning how to use it
It is easy to use. The photos are beautiful.
Excellent!! This app answers so many questions for mothers to interns to absolutely seasoned chefs. I love it as I am a seasoned chef but with a young spirit. 20 yes in and I’m always learning. This app makes ever day cooking more fun. Thank you, chefs and app developers
If it was totally necessary to have grocery lists then give me a grocery LIST and not order now from Walmart. I would like to be able to turn that feature off! So glad this was a free year subscription from a purchase as i will probably delete it .
Crashes non stop whenever I try to switch to another tab in the menu or scroll. I can open the app for a solid 6 seconds.
Using an iPad, this app does not work. It is locked in a long-ways side view at a right angle to the bottom of the screen, cutting off the menu and making it impossible to use. Restart and re download had no effect. CHECK YOUR APPS FOR BUGS, DEVS. Update: I wrote the above review over SIX YEARS AGO...and just got a notification *today* from the devs, begging me to try this app again & give them a better review. Six. Years. Yyyyyeah, no.
Awesome site great recipes
Simple, easy to understand, and straight to the point, no detours or extra steps with over the top detail. It even has images to go along with it for you to see if it’s like the one in the image.
I brought a new Panasonic Microwave, which supposedly came with a free one year digital subscription of SideChef Premium with a promotional code. The whole idea is laughable, because you get nothing and they don't even bother to tell you that the promotion is a scam, but what they do, is make sure nothing works on premium, even after putting in all of your personal credit card information. A pure waste of time, and energy. Be honest with your customers, it's nothing but a farce!
The app keeps closing before I can completely read the recipe..
Looking for inspiration, I get bogged down scrolling through elongated ad filled recipes on blogs. Scrolling and loading scrolling and loading. I need the jist of the dish I’m researching so I can move on before my toddler loses interest for the 5th time in an hour. Thanks Side Chef for helping me get there.
Learning a lot about cooking with the app 🎉
Would have given 5 stars but I hate when you get hooked on something and then it happens… “you’ll have start paying if you want the good stuff!”
This app looked amazing and it worked well at first. However every minute or so it would crash I couldn’t even look at the recipes. I even deleted and installed again to no avail. It’s a shame I had such high hopes
I’ve had the app for a few months now, and I really love it. I’ve found recipes for just about anything, if not everything. Some of the recipes may require a premium subscription, but most of them don’t. But overall, the app is great. The recipes are good. The presentation and the layout of the app is great, especially how simple it is to look at the ingredients.
I installed this on my iPad only to find out it doesn’t work in landscape mode, so it turned out to be useless.
I omitted seafood and shellfish as a food group when I registered and the first recipe and inspirational suggestion that came up when I opened the app was for a sushi roll!
I LOVE this app. Tons on awesome meals, even in the free version. I love that it automatically filters options based on dietary restrictions and is searchable by ingredient. The shopping list feature is a time saver! It would be great if it could connect to our google calendar but that’s the only thing missing.
Great features and design✨ However, it forces premium content into your feed, without the option to hide it unless you pay an annual amount of $49.99. So, if you search for recipes, every other one will essentially be unavailable for you. It’s a dark pattern to hide recipes from a user on a recipe app. I’d rather be fed ads than have you dangle photos of food in front of me and then tell me I’m not good enough to see it unless I upgrade to premium. I truly want to use the app, which is why I’ve downloaded it several times—but I’ve ended up deleting it over and over again. I don’t want to feel bad for wanting to find free recipes 💔
